Governor Ivey Highlights Success of Alabama Manufacturing on National “Made in the USA” Day

Governor Ivey Honors Alabama Manufacturers on ‘Made in the USA’ Day

MONTGOMERY, AL – In the days following Independence Day celebrations, Governor Kay Ivey is highlighting Alabama’s manufacturing achievements and the economic momentum driving the state forward. The renewed focus follows her July 2, 2025 proclamation recognizing National “Made in the USA” Day and celebrating the vital role of Alabama’s manufacturing sector.

“On this ‘Made in the USA’ Day, we proudly salute the hardworking Alabamians who make our state a true manufacturing powerhouse,” Governor Ivey stated at the time of the proclamation. “Alabama ranks among the top five states for manufacturing job concentration, and that’s the result of strong partnerships, innovative thinking, and a tireless commitment to quality.”

Manufacturing remains a cornerstone of Alabama’s economy, accounting for nearly 16% of the state’s Gross Domestic Product and generating more than $50 billion in output in 2024, according to the National Association of Manufacturers.

With over 290,000 Alabamians employed across a wide range of industries—from automotive and aerospace to metals and appliances—Governor Ivey emphasized that the state’s economic progress is built on a solid industrial foundation. Her administration continues to invest in workforce training, infrastructure, and policies that foster business growth, supporting more than 4,000 manufacturing enterprises statewide.

“We’re building for the future,” Ivey said. “These efforts are paying off in the form of new jobs, rising wages and thriving communities.”

Alabama Department of Commerce Secretary Ellen McNair reiterated the importance of manufacturing in achieving the state’s long-term goals. “From motor vehicles and rockets to aircraft and steel, Alabama manufacturers are producing the goods that move the world,” she said.

Export numbers also reflect this strength. In 2024, Alabama’s manufactured goods reached a total export value of $26.8 billion—its second-highest on record. Motor vehicles led the category, with Alabama ranking as the No. 2 auto-exporting state in the nation.

Manufacture Alabama President and CEO Jon Bargainer praised both the workforce and the state’s leadership. “Thanks to Governor Ivey’s leadership and the strength of our workforce, the industry continues to thrive,” he said. According to national data, average annual wages in Alabama’s manufacturing sector exceed $85,000.

Governor Ivey’s proclamation, issued just before the Fourth of July, now serves as a reflection point for the state’s economic pride and progress. As communities look back on the holiday and ahead to the future, Alabama’s manufacturing sector remains a key driver of opportunity, innovation, and statewide prosperity.
