Lucile L. Morgan Public Library Announces Exciting June Lineup for Summer Reading Program

HEFLIN, AL – The Lucile L. Morgan Public Library is gearing up for a vibrant and engaging month of June with a wide array of activities to promote its Summer Reading Program. With the theme “Color Your World,” the library will host a series of programs and events aimed at encouraging literacy, creativity, and community participation.

Summer Reading registration kicks off with Pre-Registration on Monday, June 2, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., followed by the official Registration and Kickoff Event on Tuesday, June 3, at 10:00 a.m. The kickoff will feature the “Color Your World with Music” program, spotlighting a lively Bluegrass Jam performance to entertain attendees of all ages.

Throughout the month, children and families can enjoy a variety of themed programs:

  • Thursday, June 5 at 10:00 a.m. – Toddler Storytime: A beloved session designed for the youngest readers.

  • Wednesday, June 11 at 10:00 a.m. – Wellness Wednesday with Ginger: A wellness-focused activity promoting healthy habits.

  • Thursday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. – Color Your World with Food: Presented by Kellie Grubbs, this interactive session explores creativity through cuisine.

  • Tuesday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m. – Color Your World with Greek Mythology: In collaboration with the Anniston Museum of Natural History.

  • Thursday, June 19 at 10:00 a.m. – Toddler Storytime: Another round of engaging stories and songs.

  • Tuesday, June 24 at 10:00 a.m. – Line Dancing: A fun opportunity to get moving and learn a few steps.

  • Thursday, June 26 at 10:00 a.m. – Color Your World with Folktales from Around the World: Featuring storyteller Natalie Jones.

All events take place at the library, located at 541 Ross Street, Heflin, AL, and are free to the public.

The Summer Reading Program offers children the chance to set reading goals, log their books, and stay engaged academically over the summer months. Participants will receive reading logs and materials upon registration.
