Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) attended the official swearing-in ceremony of Warren Stephens as the United States Ambassador to the United Kingdom on Wednesday. The ceremony took place in the Oval Office at the White House.
Stephens, a native of Arkansas, has long-standing ties to Alabama, having graduated in 1975 from Trinity Presbyterian High School in Montgomery. He was nominated by former President Donald Trump and confirmed to the diplomatic post earlier this year.
Following the ceremony, Senator Britt met with President Trump to share sentiments from Alabama residents ahead of his planned commencement address at The University of Alabama. The visit marks the first time a sitting U.S. president has delivered a graduation address at the university in its nearly 200-year history.
As Alabama’s junior senator and a University of Alabama alumna, Britt called the upcoming presidential visit “a tremendous honor” for the institution and the graduating class.
Stephens takes on the role of ambassador at a time of continued diplomatic engagement between the United States and the United Kingdom, with a focus on economic cooperation and global security partnerships.
