Cleburne County, AL — A single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Interstate 20 has resulted in the death of a Pell City woman. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Friday, July 18, near the 208 mile marker, about three miles east of Heflin.
According to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), Kristi D. Browning, 55, was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu while on foot. Browning was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 29-year-old Matthew J. Preece of Anniston, was traveling eastbound when the collision occurred.
Troopers with ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division are actively investigating the crash. No further details have been released at this time.
